Top 30 Hindi Movies releasing in 2018.

The January “Jinx” of Bollywood gets broken every year by a genuine “Akshay Kumar” movie on the Republic Day. But for many years before he began his lucky tryst in this month, January was known as the debacle “Movie” month. Mostly small budget films released in this period but it was a Bonanza time for Hollywood in India.

This year has begun with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle & Pitch Perfect 2 with only Padman as a confirmed release on the 26th January apart from some other small films like Aiyaari & Kaalakandi to name a few. But this year seems to be covering up for the Grand Showtime we missed in 2017, as we have some fantastic films releasing in 2018. Baahubali, Judwaa 2, Golmaal Again & Tiger Zinda Hai were the only films which pulled the crowds in 2017. The  Collection this year consists of all the leading names in Indian Cinema & this List is more than what a Movie lover could ever dream of.

Presenting a list of potential Blockbusters & Career launches & Biopics (Flavor of the season)

1. Pad Man: Directed by R. balki & starring Sonam kapoor, Akshay kumar & Radhika Apte, this movie is based on the true story of A. Muruganantham from Tamil Nadu. He is the social activist who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene by inventing low cost sanitary pads. It is also based on one of the stories from Twinkle Khanna’s “Legend of Laxmi Prasad”.

2. Kaalakaandi:  A dark comedy about Life, Death & Karma. Saif Ali Khan, Deepak Dobriyal & Kunal Roy Kapoor star in this Film which seems like a satirical Thriller.

 

3. Pari: From Anushka Sharma’s house of production, Pari is a Drama/Horror film starring the producer herself as a freckled, non glamorous girl in the lead role.

4. Hichki: From the YRF banner, it has Rani Mukherji in the main role. It has been adapted from Hollywoods “Front of the Class: How Tourrette syndrome made me the teacher I never had”. Rani is returning to the screen after a sabbatical & the movie looks promising.

5. Baaghi 2: A martial art (True to Tiger’s forte) film starring Tiger Shroff & Disha Patani (The real life sweet-hearts share an amazing chemistry according to the buzz feed) with Prateik Babbar.

6. Manikarnika-The Queen of Jhansi: Starring Kangana Ranaut in the title role of Rani Laxmibai, a highly awaited project as well. Kangana has trained extensively for the role & reportedly got hurt while performing the action sequence with a sword

7. Raazi: Meghana Gulzar’s project stars Alia Bhatt & Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. Adapted from “Calling Sehmat” by Harinder Sikka, Raazi is the story of a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

8. Veere di Wedding: Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar & Shikha Talsania feature in this “Female” buddy comedy film which brings back Bebo on screen after Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

9. Sanju: Biopic of Sanjay Dutt, it stars Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Diya MIrza & Sonam Kapoor (cameo). This one is from the banner of Raj kumar Hiraani who has presented Dutt in Munna-Bhai series. In the making for almost an year, all eyes are set on Ranbir as he has undergone a complete transformation to play the role.

10. Dhadak: Debut vehicle for Jhanvi Kapoor & Ishaan Khatter (Shahid’s brother) is based on Marathi Blockbuster Sairat. A long wait for Sridevi’s daughter to appear on screen ends with this film.

11. Sui Dhaage- Made in India: Starring Varun Dhawan & Anushka Sharma, it will release in August. A story of self-reliance, Sui Dhaage is going to set fireworks on screens as two of the most prominent youth icons are teaming up for the first time in this YRF Banner.

12. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar: Pareeniti Chopra & Arjun Kapoor team up for this romantic thriller which has two different people who represent two different Indias & are united by the hatred & mistrust for each other.

 

13. Saaho: Prabhas returns on screen with Shraddha Kapoor in this action thriller.

14. Race 3: Salman Khan joins the Race team with Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Anil Kapoor, Saqib Saleem & Jaqueline Fernandes (slated for An Eid release).

15. Fanne Khan: A “Musical” comedy features Anil Kapoor in a fresh look with Aishwarya Rai. It’s an official remake of Belgian Film “Everybody’s Famous”.

16. Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass: The launch pad for the “Star Son” Karan Deol will release this Ocober.

17. Gold: Starring Akshay Kumar & Mouni Roy, it is based on Hockey player Balbir Singh Sr. who was on the team that won India its first Olympic medal as a free nation in 1948.

18. Saragarhi/Kesari/Sons of Sardar-Battle of Saragarhi: 3 Films are being made on “The Battle of Saragarhi”, which was one of the most epic and legendary battle fought by the brave Sikh soldiers, led by Havildar ISHAR SINGH, British Indian Army. The battle was fought on 12th Sept 1897 between 10,000 Afghans and just 21 Sikh soldiers of 36th Sikh Regiment. Starring Randeep Hooda (Director Raj Kumar Santoshi), Starring Akshay Kumar (Dharma Productions), and an Ajay Devgn Production; this year will have 3 Movies on the same theme.

19. Thugs of Hindostan: The most spectacular Movie of 2018, it brings Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan & Katrina Kaif together in this periodical adventure drama. It is based on a famous novel “Confessions of a Thug” about a gang of thugs during British Raj in India. Another “Pirates of the Carribean” in the making?

20. Kedarnath: It marks the debut of Sara Ali Khan with Sushant S. Rajput directed by Abhishek Kapoor. It is an intense Love Story slated for a X-Mas release.

 

21. Simbba: Inspired by the Telugu blockbuster “Temper”, it has Ranveer Singh in the title role directed by Rohit Shetty.

 

22. Drive: Jacqueline Fernandes & Sushant S. Rajput come together in this Action Comedy from Dharma Productions venture, which will be the 1st installment of a new film series.

 

23. Beyond The Clouds: Iranian Filmmaker Majid Majidi makes his debut in India and directs Ishaan Khatter & Malvika Mohanan in this film based on the adoration of life, love & the nuanced human bonds.

 

24. Mere Pyaare Prime Minister: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directs this film starring Saiyyami Kher based on sanitation issues in India.

 

25. Soorma: Biopic based on Hockey legend Sandeep Singh, starring Diljit Dosanjh & Tapsee Pannu is directed by Shaad Ali.

 

27. Chanda Mama Door Ke: An ambitious project on India’s Space Programme which lands its first man on Moon stars Sushant S. Rajput & R. Madhavan playing Astronauts.

 

28. Student Of The Year 2: The sequel to the 2012 Blockbuster will release this year with Tiger Shroff in the lead role. The rest of the cast will be announced soon by Dharma productions.

 

29. Zero: The most talked about film this year belongs to SRK, who plays a dwarf in this Anand L. Rai film co-starring Anushka Sharma & Katrina Kaif. It is an ambitious project which speaks of celebrating the imperfections & incompleteness of people. Initially conceived for Salman, Zero has multiple stars like Deepika, Salman, Rani, Kajol, Aaliya, Sridevi, Karisma & Juhi Chawla portraying themselves in guest appearances.

30. Padmavat : Along with this fresh list, we have Padmavat, which should hopefully see the light of the day this January. With the title changed from Padmavati to Padmavat, the new posters should be out any day with the release date.

2.0: The sequel to the Rajnikanth Blockbuster Enthiran (Robot) has Akshay Kumar playing Villain & its dubbed version will release soon along with the original in Tamil.

 

Apart from these, there some other films in the making this year. The Accidental Prime Minister (Anupam Kher), Super 30 (Hrithik Roshan portrays mathematician Anand Kumar), Namastey Canada (Pareeniti Chopra & Arjun Kapoor), Haathi Mere Saathi ( Rana Daggubati), Sadak 2, Bhavesh Joshi (Harshvardhan Kapoor), Aiyaari (Sidhhartha Malhotra), Batti Gul Meter Chalu (Shradhha Kapoor & Shahid Kapoor), Bazaar (Saif Ali Khan) will also be releasing in 2018.
